Deer Photographer of the Year (DPOTY) is a new international photography competition launched in 2023 to celebrate the life of deer. The competition is open to photographers of all ages and nationalities, and aims to showcase compelling and ethical deer photography that informs, educates, and inspires.

Prizes

The prizes for DPOTY 2023 include:

• Overall Winner: £1000 cash
• Category Winner: £100 cash
• Commended Images: A selection of commended images will be chosen by the judges and will be featured on the DPOTY website and social media channels.

How to Enter

• Register: The first thing to do is to register for the competition. You can register on the DPOTY website.
• Select Your Photographs: Once you have registered, you can select the photographs you wish to enter. You can enter up to five photographs in each category.
• Upload Your Images: When the competition is open (1st September 2023 to 30th November 2023), you can log onto the entry portal website and upload your images.
• Fill in the Background Information: You will need to fill in some background information about each image, such as the location and date of the photograph.
• Enter Competition!: Click the “Enter Competition!” button to submit your entry.

Judging

The photographs will be judged by a panel of experienced wildlife photographers. The judges will be looking for photographs that are:

• Technically excellent
• Compositionally strong
• Captures the essence of deer
• Demonstrates ethical photography practices
